Why do you train?
My primary focus on why I train is to get back to being healthy. Being F.I.T. Time to shift the focus from taking care of others and shift the focus back to myself.
Why do you do train at our gym?
The community plays a part in why I participate. The fellow members are terrific. Everyone is always very encouraging. We talk before and after class, offer encouragement during workouts and participate in social events outside of the box. This is not at all what you find at the typical gym environment.
What were you most afraid of when you first joined our gym?
I was most afraid of being able to complete a CrossFit workout. I have always worked out in a “typical” gym environment doing my own routine and exercises. Which meant I could easily avoid the exercises I liked least. This choice was keeping me in the “comfort zone” which was not helping me. CrossFit will not let you stay there. It will push your limits and make you do things you have never done before. Could I really do this so called WOD workout and be successful?!?!
What one thing got you to take the initial leap and sign up?
Listening to a co-worker talk about the Box and how much enjoyment she was getting from it. This happened during a time when I was ready for a change in my routine.
What were your goals when you first started?
My primary goal was to lose weight and build strength.
What are your goals now?
I want to continue to build strength but now I am not focused so much on the weight loss. Just like age, weight is a number. I tell myself now I want to be HEALTHY… I want to build endurance, flexibility and body composition. I want to keep my body and my brain guessing…
What is most important to you in your life right now?
I recently became a grandmother. This has shifted my focus on what is important to me. I want to be the healthiest I can be. I want to be here to watch my granddaughter experience all the joys in life. I want to be here for my other future grandchildren. I want to be that grandma who takes them to the park and participates with them running around, playing catch, climbing the jungle gym. I refuse to be the grandma sitting on the bench on the sidelines. We all have choices and I can honestly say my time with Crossfit has inspired change, confidence and a desire to keep pushing. And I have my coaches and fellow members to thank for that.
